OK, this is a show about games and gamers.  Well the later is true.  For those of you that don’t know, The Tester (Season 1) was an online only reality show that pit gamers against each other to to see who has the best knowledge and ability to be the next tester for the US Playstation division. This is a review for the whole season so I’m probably going to give away some spoilers.  Check it after the break…

They didn’t touch any games till the very end and they only played a small stage to Uncharted 2.  Everything else was their excuse to make a reality show.  All games were games of chance or skill but everything they forced the contestants to do was all for a “reason”.  The generic response was, “If you want to be a game tester, you need to have THIS skill…”  Honestly, it was boring.  Even sticking Hal Sparks in there with his love for gaming and comedic flair didn’t help lighten thing up.  It’s a shame.  This show had potential.  Even the old Starcade, Nick Arcade and other clones did better at including games for the sake of gaming and not making it a secondary thing.

I know, people are going to say…  “HEY! This show is about testing games and not playing them!”  My response is what I’ve stated above.  The show was almost 99% devoid of VIDEO games.  Yes, they played games.  The resons behind playing them was papershuffled into the dangling carrot of hoop jumping.

finaly thoughts:  The show is not worth watching all that much.  They are working on season 3 now and I think I’ll go through and see if the 2nd season is more of the same boring weak ausce.
