Archive for March, 2012

As a new contributing author I thought it might be nice to share what my top 10 games of all time are. Well as of right now anyway… I can’t guarantee if you ask me this time next year that my list will be exactly the same although those near the top will probably remain the same 🙂

1. Goldeneye 007 (n64) – I challenge anyone to a game of multiplayer. Ask Fred how that worked out for him 🙂

2. Mario Party 2 (n64) – I have had so much fun playing with friends… it’s a great party game.

3. Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby (GBA) – Not only is this my favorite pokemon series but I have lost a lot of hours into it.

4. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS3) – A new one but a great one. I absoutley LOVE this game.

5. Journey (PS3) – Another really new game but I love the multiplayer system and the environment.

6. Mario Kart 7 (3DS) – Best Mario Kart so far. It’s all about the online play!

7. Roller Coaster Tycoon (PS2) – This was the first game that consumed my life outside of the handheld world.

8. Sonic 2 (Sega Genesis) – I have fond memories of playing before dinner every night during my freshman year.

9. Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA) – I recall using the SP link cable to race friends  – fun times!

10. Minecraft (PC/MAC) – You can read my previous posts 🙂

Journey – PSN Exclusive

So after some persuasion from my brother who said I would enjoy Journey on PSN I downloaded it and beat it twice in the first two days. The game is amazing and addicting. It is by the same developers as Flower, which was also a really unique and interesting PSN exclusive. In Journey you play as a character in a red cape traveling towards the top of a mountain. You grow your scarf along the way which allows you to fly for a short period of time. Along the way you also run into a lot of travelers (other Journey players) and you can travel the rest of the way with them, they are necessary to earn a lot of the trophies in the game. Perhaps the most interesting and frustrating part of the game is that your interaction with these other players is entirely non-verbal and the only way you have of communicating with them is by a beacon you can light up over your head. It’s fun but it also has caused me to have an incompetent partner screw up when I am trying to work on getting a trophy.

This game is totally worth the $14.99 on PSN… I think it might be free if you’re a playstation plus subscriber. I highly recommend this to anyone with a PS3 who enjoys unique and quirky games.

One of the new things i have been getting into collecting is Bobble-Heads which is really easy to do these days as there has been a major come back of them in recent years and you can find these in some sort of fashion at many if not most retail chains thank largely to the company Funko.

On a recent trip to our local Barnes and Noble bookstore i stumbled across one of there latest products that once i saw it i knew i had to have it….Star Wars Darth Vader Monster Mash-Ups Bobble-Head.

What is cool and unique about this one is that they took Darth Vader and mixed(or mashed)him up with the classic Frankenstein’s Monster creating a very cool and fun result that i was instantly taken with(am a fan and collector of Universal Studio Monsters toys).

I love the details and scale of this bobble-head and at the price point of $9.95 it really isn’t a bad deal considering the high prices of action figures these days and makes for a very nice collection alternative and one that will appeal to monster and Star Wars fans alike.

4 Star Wars Monster Mash-Ups are currently available for sale(Darth Vader,Chewbacca,Stromtrooper and Yoda)all with there own style of Monster Mash-Up and all are worth checking out if you get a chance too.

The minds behind the hit title, Heavy Rain, put out a realtime tech demo.  Yeah, tech demos come and go but this one invokes emotion and attachment to the viewers in a mere seven minutes!

(On a side note:  It seems that Quantic Dreams completed this project over a year ago!  That means that they have progressed even further than what this demo leads us to believe.)

Steam – Left for Dead 2

I was able to get the Left for Dead package on Steam around Christmas time when it was $5.00. First of all Steam prices are unbelievable… it’s a great way to sample a lot of games and have a lot of fun playing with friends online. I am a total noob to LFD because I only have a ps3 so never played it before I downloaded it on Steam.

Main reason for this post is that this isn’t really the kind of game I can play for hours on end by myself. When I can get some friends to play online with me, however, the hours fly by. So anyone who has Steam and LFD should add me so we can play online.

My Steam name is: lekaramae

I guess while I am at it… if anyone wants to add me on PSN my name is peachyks22

It’s going to be an Angry F1 season as Heikki Kovalainen hits the track.  This year’s F1 season kicked off yesterday in Melbourne.  Rovio is still moving forward with their, now galactic, domination by expanding to the racing world!

After a 1 hour session of cracking into Super Street Fighter 4 for the 360, I began to realize something was awry with Dan’s Portrait on the Character Select screen.  I played for the first hour as Goki then changed over to Dan.  After having to pick him over and over, thanks to not being able to pass Abel as the 4th character, I started to analyze his features more and more.  There seems to be something funny about Dan’s teeth.  Is it just me or does he have a center tooth?

Perhaps an optical illusion or possibly the art direction as another way to make Dan even more hilarious as the Joke “SNK” crossover character?  You decide.

The amazing guys over at Thousand Pounds Productions have brought out another great action short!  This time it’s based on the newest Capcom offering, Street Fighter x Tekken.  Not being a fan of Tekken  too much, I’ve been avoiding the release of this game.  The more I’ve been seeing of it and now the much needed hype that they provided to me, I may be adding this game to my library in the near future.

Don’t forget watch all of Thousand Pound’s videos at their YouTube channel:

Bandai Tokyo Vinyl Godzilla

I sometimes feel lucky to have a Toys R’ Us store very close to where i live because every once in a while incredible things can be found there that you might not find anywhere else. In this case i was lucky to have found a very awesome Godzilla figure from the good folks at Bandai and with me having a great love for classic horror monsters and Daikaiju(Giant Monsters) i knew i had to add this vinyl figure to my collection.

Was it worth the $20 i spent on it? I really think it was because of it’s overall design and in the fact i don’t think this is something you are going to see everywhere making it a harder piece to locate outside of ordering it online or maybe finding it at some select comic book shops that might chose to carry it.

I also must make note that there is a vinyl MechaGodziila available for the same price and looks every bit as cool as the Godzilla am showing here if not cooler and am hoping to added one to my collection if i get a chance and how awesome would it be to have two of these sitting next to each other on my toy shelf looking like there are getting ready to battle it out!
