This Guy Right Here….

…..Is extremely tired after a very long 12 hour work week(3 am to 3 pm) which left little time for blogging about anything outside that G.I. Joe Super Trooper which came in the mail a few days ago.

Sorry for the lack of posts but I should be back on track by this weekend which might turn out to be interesting for me because of two things…..

1) Am going to a Antique and Collectible show which if the weather holds out might be fun and could yield some action figures for me on the cheap if am lucky.

2) I got asked to stop in at a friend of mine’s house to look at a few boxes he has in his basement filled with some old toys from his childhood.

Now the latter here is somewhat intriguing because of some of the items that were mentioned by him in the conversation we had.

I was told there was M.A.S.K. and G.I. Joe which most of you should know I love and collect for but also there was talk of at lest one Tonka’s Steel Monsters toy with figure which I never see on my toy hunts( I had a Metal Face figure from this line which traded off to the original Stunt Zombie, Chris Mapp not too long ago).

My friend basically wants me to go in look over everything and see if there is anything I might want and help him on the pricing of the rest so he can sell it on Ebay or Craig’s List because it is all simply taking up space in his house.

Hope to have a update and maybe even some pictures to share about all of this but for now I want to wish everyone a great weekend and happy toy hunting.

My latest addition to the Cosmic Ark Collection…..

This is the Super Trooper and he was a mail-order action figure from Hasbro for the G.I. Joe toy line back in 1988.

He is so ridiculous that he is awesome so when I found him for sale I had to buy him as a special treat for myself to make up for the fact I was unable to go on my annual flea market road trip with the guys because of my work.

I keep thinking “Super-Solider” when I look at this guy and I can imagine him putting a beat down on Cobra forces much in the same fashion Sgt. Slaughter would…..

LJN Mumm-Ra Tomb Fortress Playset

This was a major trade item I had gotten recently from Brian over at Cool & Collected and I have been waiting to talk about it here on the Cosmic Ark.

Produced in the 80s by LJN as part of the popular Thundercats line of toys this set was were the evil Mummy Mumm-Ra would go to plot against his feline enemies and with the powers granted to him by the ancient spirits of evil (represented in this set by the lizard and minotaur statues) could transform his decayed form into the powerful Mumm-Ra The Ever-Living.

This is done with this set via “transformation chamber” in which could place your mummy Mumm-Ra action figure and with a turn of a rotation disc would become the beefy version of himself (You are required to have a Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living figure to do this switch which I currently lack but hope to locate a complete one at some point).

The details on the Tomb Fortress are very nice both in the front as well on the backside of it were you can see it’s not all magic going on because Mumm-Ra also uses some super science as well for various sinister purposes.

The best thing I think about this set (besides it glow-in-the-dark eyes/teeth and the statues moving parts via levers) is in the fact you could and can use it for other action figures which was one of the ideals I had in the back of mind when I first saw this over at Brian’s online store and was a major reason I wanted to have it(and the fact it just looks so cool).

Two more Micro Force mini-figures for my collection of these, Roadblock S1-02(Series 1/ number 2 figure in the series) and Barbecue….

I wasn’t really interested in the Micro Force line when I first saw them in stores but after I decided to cave in and buy a couple of the random blind bags I was hooked!

To be honest I like these better than Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Kre-O toys because of there size, detail and in the fact that the Joe Kre-O’s are Toys R’ Us exclusives at the moment and my TRU simply does not keep them in stock making it frustrating for me to get any of them.

Sad thing is I don’t think  Micro Force really has caught on with kids or collectors and we might not get a second series so I need to hurry up and grab some more before they are gone.

I need to get a Cobra Commander,Shockblast, Steel Brigade Trooper and a few others I don’t have to round out my collection.

G.I. Joe Snowcat Driver Frostbite V1

Much like the Deep Six V1 I picked up recently my 1985 released Frostbite V1 from series 4 is missing it’s vehicle the Snowcat but I lucked out and did get it’s file card which is nice.

I always used to get this character mixed up with the other Joe Team  cold weather guy Snowjob(which is another figure I will need to hunt down at some point) and I really want the V2 Frostbite which is the Tiger Force version(love the Tiger Force sub-team).

G.I. Joe FireFly V1

I been wanting a original G.I. Joe Firefly for sometime now but with my online searches for one they always turned up a little more pricey than I wanted them to be but my patience paid off and I scored one near complete.

This series 3 1984 released figure came in that lot of G.I. Joe items I recently picked up from some friends of mine and all Cobra’s saboteur is missing is his Walkie-Talkie to be complete(I have his file card too but I optioned not to show it in the above picture).

The figure is in great shape but suffers from some rusty screws which I see often in these older Joes but it takes absolutely nothing away from this one and am so very glad to have it now in my collection now.

G.I. Joe S.H.A.R.C. Diver Deep Six V1

But here is the thing I lack the “The Flying Submarine” known as the S.H.A.R.C. for Deep Six to pilot but still a fun action figure with very limited articulation from the 3rd series which was released in 1984.

Mine is also missing the air pump that would allow it to float in water which am sure many kids who had this one at the time of it’s release tried out in the bathtub or in there backyard pool.

G.I. Joe Frag-Viper V1

Got this one from my the always great Brian over at Cool & Collected and I really like the “alien” look of it.

Frag-Vipers are Cobra Grenade Throwers which to me would be one crazy job to have and makes me wonder what there insurance is like? And how does one decided this as a career choice?

Anyway this action figure was released in 1989 and is part of series 8 of the “Real American Hero” line.

I picked up Snakeweed for the Nick Turtles action figure line a short while ago and been meaning to blog about it but it kept getting pushed back until now.

I wasn’t for sure how well I was going to like this one when I first picked it up at the store but it’s over-all look and design won me over and now it’s a great addition to the “Cosmic Ark” Collection.

But I have to tell a quick story and say a big thank you to someone in regards to this figure because of something that happened when I was shuffling things around in my office/toy room.

The basic is that when I was moving things around I lost one of the antennae that goes with Snakeweed and I looked everywhere and I just could not find it which was a total bummer for me.

After some thought I took a chance a sent a email to the makers of the TMNT figures Playmates Toys and got a response back the every next day asking me what part I needed with a included image of the two toy’s antennae.

I told the gal who sent the email whose name is Paula which one I needed and she said no problem and she would have it sent out to me in a few days time and good to her word this arrived shortly afterwards…..

So I want to say thank you to Paula for sending this replacement part which I think was awesome that company like Playmates Toys would take the time to help out someone with one of there products.

Man I have been having loads of luck with these second wave Dollar General/ Basic Series G.I. Joe action figures. Yesterday I decided to stop in at one of the 4 DG stores I have near me and I hit the jackpot and found a “Blue” Cobra Commander…..

Now this just leaves one more in this repainted wave to find and that is the “Green” Shipwreck and knowing how it normally goes it will be a pain to find but I have done well with these so far and if my good fortune can continue I might be able to find one to finish this set up.
